According to the Houston Press, 44-year-old Sharon Maxwell made her way
around town, having married ten different men from with her small town
of only over 1,000 people. The town considered her to be the femme fatale,
because not only did she marry these men, but she was allegedly sleeping
around with many more. Sharon Maxwell has been convicted of
murdering her tenth husband from her small Texas town, and it wasn’t just
a simple shooting.
Maxwell covered her husband’s body in gasoline in the back of his
own pickup truck before lighting his body on fire. After examining the
remains, the police also found four gunshot wounds to Gordon Lynn’s
head as well. Last Friday her final trial was completed and the jury ruled
that she was guilty of the murder of her husband, and the court determined
life in prison would be a fitting sentencing. Reports show that there
was a lot of inconsistency as Maxwell recalled the happenings of the night
she was being accused of murdering her husband; this led the police to
even greater suspicions.
Quite a few men from the town came forward during the court proceedings
to claim that they had warned Gordon about the dangerous situation he
was in by living with his wife, and many of them told him to get out while
he still could. At Gordon’s new job, after 90 days his new life
insurance policy would be enacted and he listed Maxwell as his beneficiary.
The investigators are still uncertain as to whether life insurance was
her motive for the murder, though it is a possibility.
With her sentencing of life behind bars, Sharon Maxwell will not be eligible
for parole until 2042. If you or someone you know has been accused of
