A man from Texas has taken measures into his own hands to acquire money
by crashing his $1 million Bugatti into a lagoon three years ago. At the
time of the incident, police reports state that Andy House, claims he
was leaning over to pick up his phone of the ground of his car and when
he looked ahead again there was a pelican bird in front of him and he
swerved quickly, landing in the lagoon.
House’s 2006 Bugatti Veyron caught many eyes as it was driving around,
and witnesses who were filming his car, actually caught the entire accident
on camera as well and posted it to YouTube for the world to see. General
Manager Tim O’Hara from the car dealership states that his model
is extremely rare, and there are only a few hundred around the world.
Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Co. issued an insurance policy to Andy
House on this car for $2.2 million just 3 weeks prior to the accident,
and despite the event taking place three years ago the insurance company
is filing a lawsuit against Andy House for fraud.
The insurance company is trying to use the popular YouTube video as their
evidence in the case, claiming that there are no signs of the man attempting
to brake at all, therefore trying to prove that his actions were deliberate
to go into the lagoon. The video also provides evidence that there were
no known pelicans near his vehicle. The biggest concern with this car
is the fact that the insurance policy is worth twice what a person actually
pays for it, and this is because of the value of the product that is under
the hood. Its engines is powerful and rare and worth a very large amount
of money.
Not only is the accident posted all over the internet, but Philadelphia
Insurance also was notified by an informant who states that Andy House
tried to pay him in order to destroy his Bugatti so that he could receive
the insurance policy on the car. The informant claims that House asked
if he would first steal the vehicle and then set it on fire, and once
he received the payout he would receive funds for his services.
Now that the insurance company is trying to take action against House,
in return he is attempting to counter sue the insurance company for not
paying him the money he is due. His claim states that they owe him $2
million for the damages on his rare 2006 Bugatti Veyron. Whether House
is facing criminal charges is uncertain, though if they are able to prove it is
fraud he could be facing severe consequences with the law. If you or someone
